Board Member Job Description

Members have the ultimate legal responsibility to oversee the non-profit's
functions as a charitable organization and are responsible for securing
adequate resources and for the disposition of those resources.They should
contribute to the organization's goals and mission by providing input and
voting on key policy matters affecting the agency, its assets, its clients or
staff, or the community at large.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Advocate for children and families as a representative of the community and the
agency.

Annually, attend at least 3 of 5 meetings of the full Board.

Actively participate on a Board committee.

Attend agency events.

Appoint, support, and evaluate the Executive Director.

Understand and maintain the Board's relationship with the Executive Director.

Assist with making and carrying out strategic plan.

Set policies consistent with AASK's values, mission statement, and plan.

Make an annual gift that is personally significant.

Participate in fundraising activities and donor solicitation.

Assist the Executive Director in marketing the agency.

Actively participate in the fiscal management of the agency.

Be aware of risk management practices and actively employ them to protect the
agency.

Assist with Board development by recruiting new members, evaluating and
measuring Board performance, and offering suggestions and resources for Board
training .

Collaborate and work in partnership with other Board members.

Serve on the organization's speakers bureau and assist with outreach in the
community.
