Quick Guide to Becoming Foster or Adoptive Parents
|
Whether you would like to proceed with
foster care, adoption or our Hope-To-Home
program, if you live in Northern California we are waiting to help you make your dreams a reality.
Individuals who
are interested in adopting or fostering California's Waiting Children must
attend pre-adopt/foster parent preparation training classes offered by AASK
quarterly. Families adopting waiting children pay no fees for their training or
any of the other services that AASK provides.
Your first step is to call (510)553-1748 x 12 leaving your name, address
and phone number to receive a free packet of information. Then attend an
information workshop held the first Tuesday evening (7-9PM) of each month at
our office. You will learn about our foster care, concurrent planning and
adoption programs. To prepare for the meeting download and complete a family profile.
Your next step is to attend a personal 2-hour interview where you and a social
worker discuss questions more completely. After the interview, if you are eager
to begin, and we are able to proceed with your family, you will receive an
invitation to the parent preparation training.
Once the training is completed, you move on to become approved to foster or
adopt. In either of these roles, you can brighten the future for a California
Waiting Child. |
